Nelle due puntate della fiction si ripercorre la vita di Don Lorenzo Milani che
il 6 dicembre 1954 arrivò a Barbiana, un piccolo paesello sperduto sul monte Giovi che lui stesso definirà "una
chiesa circondata da qualche casa sparsa qua 

e là". Qui la miseria e la solitudine generano pazzia tra
gli abitanti, per cui Don Lorenzo cercherà come meglio potrà di aiutare i poveri, anche creando una scuola per i
più giovani affinché un giorno potessero aiutare economicamente i 

genitori non lavorando la
terra...........
